The House of representatives through its spokesman, Hon Abdulrazak Namdaz ( APC, Adamawa) has reacted to the Former president Obasanjo’s allegation, says Obasanjo is the father of corruption and he is plotting to disrupt Buhari’s government.
The lower chamber was responding to remarks made by the ex-president at an address in Lagos in which he dressed down the National Assembly depicting it as "a nook of debasement by a group of unarmed burglars." Obasanjo also criticized the judiciary, the military and the presidency.
Hon. Namdaz while addressing a press confrerence at the National assembly complex yesterday in Abuja, hit back at Obasanjo, blaming him for introducing corruption in the National Assembly the very first day he assumed office as president in 1999, and extorting every government that don’t go along with him.
“It is unfortunate that he has started his very familiar method of bringing down governments,He did it to Alhaji Shehu Shagari. He did it to Gen. Buhari. He did same to Gen. Babangida. He attempted to bring down Gen. Abacha before he imprisoned him for treason. He made frantic efforts to derail the government of President Ya’ardua when he couldn’t use him. He supported President Goodluck Jonathan but when he refused to take dictation, he turned against him. He supported President Buhari, but since he has sensed that Nigeria is having economic difficulties under him, he has pounced to derail his government,” the lawmaker stated.
He also added, “ The way Chief Obasanjo talks gives the impression that he is a lifetime opposition leader who has never held any office, what effort did he made to address the issue he raised in eight years as president?” he queried.
Mr Abdulrazak Namdas also said the country would not overlook the huge amount of money Mr. Obasanjo purportedly influenced individuals from the House of Representatives to indict a previous Speaker, Ghali Na'Abba.
“Have we overlooked the sacks of cash showed on the floor of the House of Representatives being influence cash paid by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to some fair individuals to indict Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ghali Na'Abba?" he questioned.
