Nigerian executed in Singapore for drug trafficking

A Nigerian named Chijioke Obioha, 38-years old, has been executed in Singapore in the wake of being discovered blameworthy of medication trafficking, the nearby media gave an account of Friday.

Mr. Obioha was captured in April 2007 subsequent to being found possessing more than 2.6 kilograms of cannabis. The amount outperformed the 500 grams edge that triggers the programmed assumption of trafficking under Singaporean law.

Mr. Obioha was hanged in Changi Prison early Friday morning close by a Malaysian national who was indicted on discrete medications offenses, the Straits Times reported, citing an announcement from the nation's hostile to opiates authority.

He was discovered liable in December 2008 and was sentenced to death by hanging. An interest he recorded was expelled in 2010, the Strait Times said.

His execution came two days after he lost an interest for mercy from the Singaporean government.

Amnesty International, which attempted genuine endeavors to change his death penalty, have condemned the execution and pointed that death penalty will never be a solution, this action will not help them get rid of drugs.

Daily Trust reports the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora , Abira Dabiri-Erewa describing the execution as heartbreaking, although several calls had been made on Nigerians to abstain from criminal activities like drug trafficking.
